Attracting talent
Attracting, developing and retaining talent is one of CWI's priorities and part of CWI's national role as formulated in the institute's Strategy 2022-2027. We do this by, among other things, supervising, training and educating PhD students. CWI employs about 85 PhD students distributed over 15 research groups.
CWI offers PhD positions to develop talents and skills of young researchers in an environment of excellent researchers and challenging topics at the forefront of science, especially at the interface of mathematics and computer science, in one of CWI's fifteen research groups. Most of our research groups offer MSc thesis projects as well.
Supervision and training
We provide our PhD students with supervision and with a choice of training and courses, some with PhD students from other national research institutes of NWO, e.g. on career options after the doctorate. CWI works closely together with Dutch universities. At the end of the PhD trajectory the doctoral degree will be awarded by the university where the CWI research supervisor is a part-time professor.
