Invisible XML is based on the idea that data in any parsable format can be treated as XML -- a format that is readable by machines as well as humans -- without the need for markup. The software has been developed in the Distributed and Interactive Systems (DIS) research group, and provides a generic method for inserting any parsable object into an XML pipeline. That way, these objects can be accessed and processed using readily-available XML tools like XQuery, XPath and XSLT.
Although the Invisible XML software is still in its infancy, its concepts have already been used in a Dutch government project.
