This group is a subgroup of Life Sciences.
Coordinator of this subgroup: Joke Blom
The subtheme focuses on mathematical problems in the life sciences, in particular biology and medicine. The work is done in close cooperation with groups working in cell-, neuro- and microbiology. The mathematical research includes multiscale modelling, analytical and numerical topics (queueing systems, diffusion-reaction systems at the macroscopic and mesoscopic level, hybrid ODE/PDE systems), uncertainty quantification and parameter estimation (parameter identification, model discrimination and optimal experimental design).
The research group participates in the Netherlands Institute for Systems Biology (NISB).
External support is obtained from European Commission, FP7 programme, for the BioPreDyn project.
