Sadly, Dik Winter passed away on 28 December 2009.
Dik was just about to celebrate a 40th anniversary working with CWI and, starting 1 March 2010, would have retired.
Dik had been working at CWI (formally known as "Mathematisch Centrum") since 1969. He was originally hired as a programmer for the accounting department and worked many years as scientific programmer with the numerical mathematics department. Since the early 90s Dik had been working as a senior unix system administrator.
Dik will be remembered as a dedicated colleague and programmer as well as a calm and friendly person.
