Starting from 1 September 2009 Jan H. van Schuppen (CWI) has been appointed as professor Mathematical System Theory at the Department of Mathematics of the Faculty of Electrical Engineering, Mathematics and Computer Sciences at the TU Delft. It concerns a part-time appointment for one day per week.
Together with Karen Aardal, professor Optimization at the TU Delft he will lead a research group and focus on Control and System Theory. At the TU Delft he will also collaborate with the disciplines Civil Engineering, Chemistry and Management of Technology.
Jan H. van Schuppen will remain at CWI for four days per week and lead amongst others the research group Control and System Theory. Next he is leading the project 'Control for Coordination of Distributed Systems' that is financed by the European Commission. Van Schuppen also collaborated with 'Rijkswaterstaat' and is involved in systems biology research. For 'Rijkswaterstaat' Van Schuppen studied routing problems on highways in order to reduce traveling time and traffic jams.
