The project Trust4All, with CWI contributions of Frank de Boer and Farhad Arbab, has won the bronze Achievement Award 2008 of Information Technology for European Advancement 2.
In the Trust4All project researchers developed a model to determine the level of trust of embedded software. This validation of embedded systems can be used to decide if a system should perform a critical task. The trustworthiness of embedded software is very important for instance for new medical tools like a defibrillator.
Information Technology for European Advancement 2 (ITEA 2) awards the project for its solid, flexible and trustworthy architecture for embedded systems in several domains. The results have already been successfully exploited. ITEA 2 stimulates European projects that will give European industry a leading edge in the area of Software-Intensive Systems en Services (SISS). Trust4All was a cooperation of companies and institutes from the Netherlands, Finland and Spain, with leadership by Philips.
