The Telematica Instituut announced that the Dutch Architecture Forum for the digital world awarded a prize to the ArchiMate team on 26 November. CWI researchers Frank de Boer and Farhad Arbab are members of this team.
The award ceremony took place during the tenth National Architecture Congress (LAC 2008) in Nieuwegein. The NAF Architecture prize is awarded for a remarkable achievement in the area of architecture to an individual, team or organization. This year Rijkswaterstaat and the team that developed ArchiMate - an open description technique for enterprise architectures - received the award ex aequo.
The ArchiMate team existed of a broad cooperation from practice (ABM AMRO, ABP, Inland Revenue, Ordina) and science (Radbout University, CWI, Leiden University), under guidance of the Telematica Instituut. Recently, ArchiMate was adopted by the Open Source Group, a worldwide consortium of enterprises and knowledge institutions that make a case for open standards and integrated information within and between organizations. With this a Dutch development grows into a standard of world stature.
