The CWI website is renewed with a content management system.
The site is based on the new house style and new logo. The content is adjusted and replaced. In the coming months we will work on further development and creating content of the website.
About 20 years ago CWI gained the first internet access for Europe and, although the internet site has made some changes since then, it is for the first time that a complete new approach is chosen. The site is completely bilingual.
The content will soon grow with more research topics, profiles of the scientists and more interactivity. Most parts of the former website are still available by adding 'old-' in the specific url.
The new website is the first expression of the new house style of CWI that will be revealed in all communication layers later these months.
Thanks to CWI the Netherlands became in April 1986 the first country in the world with an own country 'top level' domain name: .NL. And in November 1988 CWI was the first non-American organization to gain access to the American NSF-net, which was the equivalent of internet at the time. This connection meant the introduction of internet to Europe. The work of several employees of CWI, in specific Piet Beertema, was crucial.
