The Dolce Vita project (Data-driven Optimisation for a Vital Elderly Care System) aims to prevent or better plan acute care for the elderly and reduce waiting times. To this end, CWI developed a data model that can be applied nationally and regionally. The model can also predict the impact of (policy) changes on acute elderly care, such as innovations, changes in the number of beds in a care institution or a closure of an Emergency Department.

CWI's data model reveals structures and inefficiencies in acute elderly care. Things often go wrong during the transition from one healthcare provider to another, for example when an elderly patient moves from hospital to a rehabilitation centre or a nursing home.
